Thanks to frontline officers and  collaboration between all levels of government, crime is down slightly year-over-year, but families still have valid concerns about safety and security. If elected, I will work with federal, provincial, and municipal partners to ensure local law enforcement has the tools, staffing, and support needed to reduce breaking-and-entering, auto theft, and other repeat and violent crime so every Miltonian can feel safe and secure in their home.

Milton is way behind its peer communities on transit. Ward 2 residents lose precious time to gridlock each and every day. I will fight to expand Milton Transit and active transit options, enhance local and regional roads, modernize and synchronize traffic infrastructure, and push my provincial and federal colleagues to get serious about all-day two-way GO service so we can get Milton moving again.

While Ward 2's councillors have talked a big game when it comes to affordability, they haven't delivered results. At a time when the cost of living is higher than ever, Town taxes are up 39% over the past term of council. As Regional Councillor for Ward 2, I'll advocate for an operations and services review to ensure taxpayers are getting value for money, fight to keep property tax increases to a minimum, and look for ways to reduce the cost of municipal services for low and fixed-income Miltonians.

One thing I've heard over and over from local families is that some members of our community are getting away with breaking the rules due to poor, inefficient, and asymmetrical bylaw enforcement. In my role as Regional Councillor, I will work with bylaw officers and push for enhancements to the system to ensure bylaws are enforced fairly, equitably, and efficiently.

The Town and Region have more of an impact on your day-to-day life than any other level of government. Whether we're talking public transit, snow removal, garbage pickup, recreation, or permitting, municipal services affect your life every day and families in Ward 2 deserve better than they've been getting from the Town and Region. If elected, I'll find ways to cut red tape and fight for targeted service enhancements like reliable public transit and efficient snow removal.

Our Town has grown rapidly, but our infrastructure hasn't kept up and in recent years, the gap has only gotten worse. The Town's Official Plan has our community swelling to more than 400,000 residents by 2051. As we continue to grow, we must do so responsibly by building complete communities with infrastructure that meets the needs of our growing community. New and old residents deserve a Town free of gridlock, access to green space, affordable recreation, and places they can gather and grow together.

Due to years of stagnant growth and insufficient action by local, provincial, and federal governments, younger generations, low-income families, and individuals on fixed incomes are seeing the dream of homeownership slip further and further away. I will pursue all avenues to create affordable housing options, including cutting red tape, permitting reform, collaboration with other orders of government, and incentive programs. 

Milton has one of the youngest, most highly educated workforces in the country and yet most of us commute elsewhere for work in our chosen fields because we can't find jobs here. We don't need more work in warehousing, logistics, or retail, we need knowledge-based employment opportunities that suit the demographics, education, and background of the people who live here. By completing and leveraging the Milton Education Village, providing incentives, and building partnerships with prospective employers, we can retain our best and brightest.

As we've seen with higher temperatures and more frequent extreme weather events, climate change is already affecting all of our lives and if we don't act now, things are going to get even worse. If elected, I will  work with local partners like Conservation Halton to preserve and protect our natural environment, encourage sustainable development as our community continues to grow, and push to accelerate Milton's path to net-zero emissions. When done right, climate action isn't just good environmental policy, it's good economic policy: a moral imperative and an economic necessity. Our growth, programs, and policies need to reflect that.
